Program Description

The accredited lecture series will provide a supportive and safe environment to discuss cannabinoids, treatment strategies, challenges and opportunities for this class of agent to be used in a number of medical conditions. Up-to-date information of safety and efficacy will be presented to solidify the knowledge base for cannabinoids options in Canada.

Highly interactive, mixed presentation/workshop format will be used. Sessions will involve approximately 20 participants.

Physicians will have the opportunity to discuss with their peers specific issues in using cannabinoids, the challenges they face, and to be exposed to new data and information which will help them with gaining a better understanding of the topic area. Through this lecture series we will create a new level of understanding of advances in research and treatment with cannabinoids.

At the end of this program, participants will:

  • Be aware of the evidence of safety and effcacy of existing therapeutic cannabinoids in a range of conditions
  • Be able to identify potential patients for trials of cannabinoid use
  • Know how to initiate cannabinoid therapy
  • Know how to monitor patients on cannabinoids

Participants will specifically learn how to:

  • Introduce cannabinoids (patient selection, dosing and education)
  • Monitor patients (what outcomes to monitor, how to recognize and manage side effects, and when to stop treatment or adjust doses)
  • Medical Marijuana (dosing, authorizing, red flags and practice pearls)
